About

I'm Jamie Dean, a software engineer in the UK. By day I'm an AI Engineer at MonumentAI; the rest of the time I build and run my own things — a bakery SaaS with real customers, a music app my household actually uses, and a home server that hosts all of it.

I graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2026 with First Class Honours in BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Software Engineering), with a Certificate of Professional Industrial Experience from a 14-month placement.

Where I came from

I've worked in a wholefood bakery since 2021, running proovers and ovens and packing orders. NovaraPro exists because I got tired of the paper. Before that I was a carpenter's assistant, a mechanic's assistant in an MOT garage, and the IT technician at a rider-training school. I'm a self-taught motorbike mechanic and I learn by building the thing.

What I do

I love solving real problems with code. Whether it's automating a workflow, building a management system for a bakery, writing a Rust tool to read a CPU's real topology, or getting a small local model to behave — I'm always learning and building.

Most of my work is Python and TypeScript, with Rust, Dart/Flutter and QML where they fit. Everything I run is on rootless Podman with Postgres behind it.
